And it goes

The bodice of my conference dress is done, except for the closure. Will work on the sleeves tonight. Yes, I have photos. No, you can't see them until after I get back from the conference in March :).

Conference dress

I cut into the fabric today...so far so good. I went to a friend's Sunday to have it fitted. He's a great seamster (is that the male version of seamstress?) and we got it fitted very well. I'm now just attaching the lining to the fabric and then will begin true construction.

Another article

My AAR on Texian Market Days appeared in the January/February Citizen's Companion. And one of my pictures appeared on the back. Very cool. Kind of a down day, so getting this in the mail today perked things up a bit :)

Dress progress

So I have begun the conference dress. Sorry no pictures until after the conference; however I will blog the progress as it moves along. Last week I traced out and adjusted my pattern. This weekend I cut out and put together a muslin, actually two. Everything fits on my dress form so the next step is to fit it on me. Once this fitting is done, I'll make the adjustments and cut into the conference fabric.

I have some lovely sheer cotton lawn that I'm using for undersleeves. Those will probably be done before anything as the pattern fits and really doesn't need any adjustments. Really, what can I do, they're a tube :).

Presentation done?

I have just completed my presentation for the Ladies and Gentlemen of the 1860s Conference. Well, almost...there is one more photo I want but I have to get it from work or go to San Antonio to take it. But the text is done and 99.99% of the power point is done. Finally able to start on the dress. I think part of me has been reluctant to start on the dress; it's like cutting into a piece of reeeeallly expensive fabric. This is going to take several muslin dummies.
